A 9-day safari experience taking in the Botswanan highlights of Moremi Wildlife Reserve, the Savuti Channel and Chobe National Park.

 

Listen to the haunting cry of the fish eagle; see herds of elephant and buffalo, tsessebe and zebra as well as all large and small predators. A boating experience in Xakanaxa and on the Chobe River is included.

 

This incredible all-inclusive safari experience travels as a fully serviced mobile camp, complete with ensuites, so your guide/driver, cook and waiter will travel with you and take care of all camp duties including the setup of tents, cooking and cleaning so you can relax.

 

  • Scenic Okavango Delta flight. Arriving in the worlds only inland delta by air gives visitors an incredible bird's eye view of the grassy plains  and flood waters which make up this unique habitat

 

  • Take a motor cruise to explore the Xakanaxa Lagoon or Mboma waterways and visit the famous heronries of the eastern Okavango.

Maun to Xakanaxa

 

We will meet you at Maun International Airport, where you will be shown to your light aircraft for your scenic flight over the Okavango Delta to the Moremi Game Reserve. Upon arrival at the Xakanaxa (pronounced Ka-ka-na-ka) airstrip you will be met by your guide for your first Moremi Game Drive.


A variety of game can be found along the rivers and floodplains of the Okavango, herds of red lechwe, buffalo and hippo are commonly seen. Around midday, we may encounter some breeding herds of elephants coming to drink along the rivers. Moremi is well known for its wild dog population and lions, leopard and cheetah are also frequently seen.

 

An early start to our second day, with morning coffee or tea, before we set off on a full morning’s game drive. An area in the heart of the Okavango the diverse habitat ensures prolific sightings of Elephant, Buffalo, Hyena, Giraffe, Hippo, Wildebeest, Kudu, Lechwe, Lion and Leopard, among many others. The Xakanaxa area is ideal for Birding, particularly in the spring and summer months when the migrants are breeding.

Xakanaxa Camp

 

The prime location of Camp Xakanaxa (pronounced Ka-ka-na-ka) on the banks of the Khwai River on the Xakanaxa Lagoon, in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve, makes it one of the very few safari camps that offer guests an authentic, year-round Okavango Delta land and water safari experience.

 

The camp accommodates twenty-four guests in twelve spacious all-canvas, classic Meru-style luxury safari tents, with en suite showers, hand basins and toilet facilities.

 

Situated on the fringe of the lagoon, every tent has a private viewing deck with comfortable loungers. Camp Xakanaxa is one of the few camps in Botswana which still offers the essence of a classic tented camp.

 

In camp, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere together with personalised and caring service evokes a feeling of coming home.

 

Xakanaxa is ideally situated a short distance from both the mokoro and motorised boat jetty making trips out to on the lagoon extremely convenient.
